Liat Tzvi Mayer
Experience
I have experience working with and working through trauma, depression, despair, anxiety, grief. I wrestle and engage with the devastation and imprint of settler colonialism, white body supremacy, zionism, hetero-patriarchy, ableism, and the prison industrial complex pathologizing our experience of late stage capitalism.
Skill
I am a certified Brainspotting practitioner and have professional training in the Hakomi Method, a mindfulness and body centered psychotherapy modality. I have been working with youth and young adults navigating complex trauma in a variety of therapeutic capacities for 20 years.
I am also trained in Anthropology, the study of human culture.
In particular, I research violence, ethics, trauma, and relationship.
I listen for the story within the story about our lives.
I have expertise in embodiment practices, patience,
and turning the ordinary into the magical.
Compass
I view presence and connection as a compass.
We are all spider, sparrow, salmon, skunk,
together we can weave the sacred and profane.
